CP/M History

Once upon a time there were some hackers who made with their own hands some small computers using who knows what type of microprocessor.

Then INTEL came on the market with i8080: it was unexpensive an the hackers adopted it.

A lot of companies had set up their own computers based on proprietary architectures using this processor.

There was also a company called Digital Research: presently they invented an operating system to match the new architectures; they called it CP/M.

A very serious and consistent book on CP/M is the one written by David E. Cortesi, called 'Inside CP/M' (published in 1982, I guess).
